description
LMS Duchess Class
Idol
Designed by Sir William A. Stanier, the first of these great locomotives was built in Crewe in 1937. With a tractive force of approx. 18 tons (force), these 4-cylinder locomotives were very powerful and can be seen as a response to the LNER A4 Pacifics built by LNER two years earlier. Rumors claim that without the Second World War, the LMS could have beaten the speed record for steam locomotives with the LNER Duchess Class. The first locomotives from Crewe were originally built with streamlined trim. In the case of locomotives built later, the streamlining was omitted. Finally, the streamlining was removed from all the locomotives used, and the locomotives were painted in different colors throughout their lifecycle: maroon, blue and later green with a line.
model
Models with a track width of 3.5 "are built in 1:16 scale and offer a number of advantages over other models. They offer the possibility of owning a large express locomotive with a reasonable size and weight. The cost is about half the cost of a similar 5-inch model. They are easy to carry and are the ideal size for installation at home or in the office. The majority of clubs have 3.5-inch rails, and the LMS Duchess can easily pull a number of adults. This coal-fired 4-cylinder model is supplied with a silver-brazed copper boiler that has been hydraulically tested for double the operating pressure. All models are CE marked and are supplied with a manufacturer's boiler test certificate and an EU declaration of conformity. This is proof of our trust in the quality of the models. We offer a 12-month guarantee for all models.
The LMS Duchess model will be produced in limited quantities later this year. Orders / reservations are accepted based on availability and processed in the order in which they are received.
